about us

Welcome! Please take a few moments to get to know Soquel High School and our website, which can put you in touch with the extraordinary opportunities at SHS.

The Academics section contains information on course offerings including a variety of AP, Honors and (Career and Technical Education) CTE courses.  Soquel High is also proud to offer a sustainable Agricultural Science program (UC - Approved) with a 2-acre farm and floral design shop.  Peruse the Counseling section of our website for college entrance information, testing dates, and scholarship opportunities. The Visual and Performing Arts section lists our teachers' names.  We are also extremely proud of our award-winning Jazz Band and our all-inclusive choral program.  In fact, approximately one-third of students enroll in our comprehensive music program!  Soquel also offers other Arts, such as ceramics for both beginning and advanced students and a drama program for our talented Knights of the Square Stage.  Additionally, we offer many student-led clubs and encourage students to create new clubs.  Students appreciate the diversity of programs we offer and feel welcomed by our dedicated and caring faculty, staff and administration.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Soquel HIgh School Families,

We hope you’ve enjoyed your Summer break with friends and family!. We look forward to welcoming students back to campus on Wednesday, August 21.

If you’ve recently been on campus, you may have noticed active construction occurring. It’s an exciting time for Soquel High as we are benefitting from upgrades and enhancements from previous school bond measures. Work has been underway all summer, but due to the multiple priorities around the district and the magnitude of the projects on our campus, the renovation will continue throughout the school year.

We realize that this can be an inconvenience at times, but in the end Soquel High will have state-of-the art classrooms, buildings, and other infrastructure. The safety and well being of our students and staff is a top priority. Additionally, we want to assure you that all attempts will be made to keep noise to a minimum so it does not detract from teaching and learning.

There will also be some staff displacements as building 100 is our focus during Fall 2019. Our Administration, Counselors, and various support staff will be temporarily housed in the 100 Building’s classrooms while the Administration/Counselor areas and library are being renovated. We anticipate moving back to our renovated locations in early November 2019.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. My door is always open should you wish to discuss the work occurring on campus.

Respectfully,

Greg O’Meara
Principal
